Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F
- Brown ground beef in skillet, drain fat
- Cook onions in butter and oil until caramelized
- Mix beef, rice, broth, soup mix, and seasonings
- Transfer to baking dish, top with onions
- Bake covered for 45 minutes
- Uncover, add cheese, bake 10 more minutes
Notes
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving
- Substitute brown rice for longer cook time
- Add mushrooms for extra flavor
